Meet Kate

At heart, I'm a yoga student first.

I've been practicing, teaching, and learning alongside students throughout Greater Hartford Connecticut and the Litchfield Hills for more than a decade, from one-on-one sessions and small groups to classes of more than 100 students.

My classes welcome a broad, all-levels community, including prenatal students, with space to modify, explore, challenge yourself, or simply breathe.

My teaching is rooted in practice over perfection. Classes are challenging yet approachable, with longer holds, intentional movement, moments of stillness, and plenty of space to connect with your breath.

There's often less music in the background because, in many ways, our breath becomes the music.

I also work privately with individuals and small groups looking for more personalized attention, whether you're building confidence, deepening your practice, exploring specific postures, or simply looking for more time to learn.

Interested in practicing together? Sign up for an upcoming class or reach out to explore private and small-group sessions.

"Kate reads the room better than any teacher I've had. She'll give you a small cue and suddenly the pose makes sense in your body."

Practice With Us Inside the Historic 1868 Chapel

Two students sitting in the sunlit chapel beneath arched stained-glass windowsClose-up of the chapel's three arched stained-glass windows with sunlight streaming throughThe open chapel interior with white walls, blue trim, and original wood floorsThe white 1868 East Litchfield chapel with its blue door at golden hour, framed by trees and a wide sky

Litchfield was settled in 1719, and by the 1800s this eastern corner of town had become its own small world. The Naugatuck Railroad arrived in 1849 and a village grew up around the depot along the river, with mills, farms, and a cluster of houses on roads still named for the families who lived on them.

The chapel went up in 1868, three years after the Civil War ended, so that neighbors in the village had a place of their own to gather without traveling to the green in the center of town. Generations have met here since. Today it is looked after by the East Litchfield Village Improvement Society, whose volunteers refinished the floors, replaced the walk, and keep the doors open for the neighborhood.

Step inside and you feel it. Light moves through the stained glass, the old floorboards settle underfoot, and the room does most of the work of quieting you down. Come for yoga, and stay for the history, the landscape, and the feeling of practicing together in a genuinely special place.

  • A chapel built in 1868, three years after the Civil War ended
  • Soaring ceilings, original wood floors, and vintage details
  • Stained-glass windows that change the room hour by hour
  • Restored and cared for by neighbors through E.L.V.I.S.
  • In the old railroad village along the Naugatuck River
  • Minutes from Topsmead, Wisdom House, and the Litchfield green
"The chapel itself does something to you. Light through the windows, old wood floors, a small group of people breathing together it's the calmest hour of my week."
Margaret R., Torrington, CT

“I was so nervous about my first class. Kate met me exactly where I was, and now it's the part of my week I protect.”

I was nervous my first class because I had basically no yoga experience. Kate made me feel welcome right away — clear instructions, thoughtful options, and I never felt like I had to keep up with anyone.

I've practiced yoga for more than twenty years and Kate's classes still challenge me. Her cueing is specific and intelligent and fresh, without being complicated just for the sake of it.
Meredith J.
Amenia, NY
Kate has a way of getting you to explore your strength without the class ever feeling aggressive or competitive. I leave thinking "I didn't know I could do that."
